Monoacylglycerols (MAGs) represent a critical intermediate in metabolism, however, MAGs have been very difficult to detect using robust mass spectrometry based methods. To allow for easy analysis of MAGs in clinical samples, BERG developed a rapid and robust high resolution MS/MSALLshotgun lipidomics workflow to capture these critical molecules in biofluid and tissue samples in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and Joslin Diabetes Center. By allowing for easy detection of MAGs, we now can advance our understanding of their role in the pathogenesis of cancers, metabolic diseases, inflammation, and other diseases associated with disturbances in MAG.
