BPGbio to Host Virtual Fireside Chat on AI’s Impact on Drug Discovery and Development

Webinar will highlight the company’s progress in leveraging artificial intelligence to develop medicines that address fundamental mechanisms of mitochondrial biology and protein homeostasis.

The event, “How will AI/Machine Learning & High-Speed Computing Impact Drug Discovery and Development?” will feature distinguished speakers from BPGbio and several of its collaborating institutions. Speakers will discuss the power of the company’s NAi Interrogative Biology® platform, and BPGbio’s initial successes in leveraging its AI capabilities and large clinically annotated biobank to develop drugs for oncology, rare disease, and neurology applications.

The event brings together the world’s top experts in brain diseases and pancreatic cancer, as well as the U.S. government’s top expert who runs the world’s fastest supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to discuss BPGbio’s revolutionary innovations currently being validated in human clinical trials. Kimberly Minarovich, Managing Director of Argot Partners, will moderate the event and introduce the challenges that society faces in improving human health in the face of rising incidence of age-related cancers and neurodegeneration.

Jeremy C. Smith, PhD  

Governor’s Chair and Director, University of Tennessee; Director, Center for Molecular Biophysics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

His research interests include high-performance computer simulation of biological macromolecules, supercomputing, bioenergy, environmental biogeochemistry, drug and vaccine design, and biological neutron scattering. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed articles.

Eric J. Nestler, MD, PhD  

Nash Family Professor of Neuroscience; Director, Friedman Brain Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

He is an accomplished neuroscientist aiming to develop improved treatments. He has held prestigious academic positions at Yale University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is a member of the Institute of Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Madappa Kundranda, MD, PhD  

Chief, Division of Cancer Medicine, Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.

He specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic cancer, and has been actively involved in clinical trials. He completed his medical and PhD degrees at Kasturba Medical College and his residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Mayo Clinic, respectively.

Niven R. Narain, PhD

Chairman, President & CEO of BPGbio.

He is a pioneer in AI-driven drug discovery, with over 400 patents. Daniel Elliott

He is a serial entrepreneur who has led six companies as CEO across a range of industries including automotive, energy, technology, and most recently a multi-$B healthcare diagnostics company. Earlier in his career, Mr. Elliott participated in development and turnaround of multiple venture and PE-backed companies, resulting in positive investor returns. Mr. Elliott is also serving as Managing Director at Phoenix Genesis, a private investment fund.
